8th graders at CVMS got to experience a flame tube in science class this past week. A flame tube (Rubens’ tube) makes sound waves visible by turning air vibrations into dancing flames. As sound travels through the tube, it creates areas of high and low pressure, which push the flames higher or lower. The result is a glowing pattern that shows the shape of the sound wave in real time. Students were amazed watching the glowing patterns! 6th graders also had the opportunity to take a field trip to the bowling alley right before Thanksgiving break!
